Fall Family Mini Tips

FALL FAMILY STYLE
What should we wear?
When I think of fall, I think of pumpkin spice lattes and rich, muted tones like burnt umber, hunter green, mustard yellow, and cranberry. These colors are beautiful for fall photos, but you certainly don’t have to stick to a traditional fall palette.
Brighter colors can look amazing in photographs and help bring energy and personality to your images. Reds, pinks, yellows, oranges, and even classic white can all photograph beautifully and make you pop against the autumn landscape. Most importantly, choose colors that feel like you. Whether you love rich fall tones or prefer something bright and colorful, wear something that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself.
If we’re photographing in a garden setting like Lincoln Park Pond, the Grant Park Rose Garden, Gillson Park, or the Morton Arboretum, don’t be afraid of color! Reds, oranges, and yellows look especially beautiful against a green backdrop. Red is complementary to green, which makes those warm red and berry tones really pop against the foliage. Think cranberry, burgundy, rust, terracotta, mustard, or even a vibrant red for a little extra punch.
The goal isn’t for everyone to match, it’s for your colors to complement each other and the setting. A little contrast can make your photographs feel colorful, warm, and full of life.

PORTRAITS & CANDIDS
What can we expect during the shoot?
We’ll capture a little bit of everything! I’ll guide you into a few beautiful portraits with everyone looking at the camera, but I also want to capture the fun stuff – the giggles, cuddles, goofy smiles, little personalities, and those in-between moments that happen naturally. You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about making everything perfect. Just enjoy your people, and I’ll take care of the rest.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
Please give me a little back story about your family – how many family members and ages. Include a fun little story too!
How and when do we get the photos?
The images will be posted to a private online gallery. You’ll be able to download the full resolution images and also order prints directly from the gallery. The gallery will be posted within two weeks of the shoot. I’ll send you a link when the gallery is finished.
When is payment due?
A $50 deposit is required to reserve your session. The remaining balance is due on the day of your shoot. Once your deposit is received, your date and time are officially yours!
How are the photos selected for the gallery?
Your gallery is thoughtfully curated to tell the story of your session. I select the best images that capture a mix of genuine moments, expressions, and beautiful portraits, while also making sure the gallery feels cohesive from beginning to end. You’ll receive 10–15 fully edited images that I feel best represent your time together. Unedited or raw images will not be delivered, the gallery you receive is a carefully edited collection of the moments I feel tell your story best.
What happens if it rains?
If it’s raining on your scheduled date, you can try to book an alternate date from the booking calendar. If there is not an available time slot, I will do my best to find a day/time that will work for you.

IDEAS & INSPIRATION
Fur babies welcome
I’m a huge dog lover and I know they are an important part of the family! Feel free to bring the pup. I recommend that you bring a doggie helper who can take care of the pup so we can get some shots with and without the pup. Doggies are just the best, but they can be distracting.
